What time of year can I have a private event?

The Museum at the Gateway Arch is available for private events from Labor Day (beginning of September) until Memorial Day (End of May). The Gateway Arch closes at 6:00 p.m. during these months and private events can reserve the space after hours. 

What time can my event begin?

Events can begin no earlier than 7:00 p.m. and must end no later than 11:00 p.m. Music and beverage service must end by 10:30 p.m. or 30 minutes prior to the end time of your event.

What spaces are available?

There are several areas available for event rentals at the Museum at the Gateway Arch.

  • The Mezzanine can host up to 150 seated guests or 200 guests for a standing cocktail reception.
  • The Tram Lobby can accommodate up to 600 guests for a sit-down dinner or 700 for a standing cocktail reception.
  • The entire Museum at the Gateway Arch can accommodate 900 – 1,000 guests, though they will not all fit in one space at the same time.
  • Museum exhibit access may be added to event rental spaces for an additional fee.
  • No food or beverages are allowed in the exhibit space.

What is included with my rental?

Space rental includes law enforcement officers at the security checkpoint inside the front of the museum, interpretive staff, and Gateway Arch Park Foundation (GAPF) staff liason in the exhibits. When renting the Tram Ride to the Top of the Arch, the tram operators and tram staff will be included. You may request the Arch Store to be open during your event for a fee, which includes store staff. At the end of the night, your event company or catering company will be required to clean and remove all trash from the space. 

*Tables, chairs, decorations for the space, and food/beverages for guests are not included in the cost of renting these areas.

Do you have preferred vendors?

There is a list of preferred GAPF vendors that are familiar with planning and executing events at the Gateway Arch Museum, but you are not obligated to use these vendors.

Are my guests required to go through security?                                                                  

Due to security measures at the Gateway Arch, all visitors to the Museum at the Gateway Arch must pass through an airport-style security checkpoint.  No weapons - including firearms, knives, pepper spray, mace, or electronic weapons are allowed.

Are greeters provided?

A volunteer or employee from your organization must be in the Visitor’s Center lobby to greet guests and check them in throughout the evening. The National Park Service and the Gateway Arch Park Foundation will not be responsible for greeting your guests at the event. 

Is there a damage deposit required?

A damage deposit is due to the Gateway Arch Park Foundation 30 days prior to the date of the event.  The damage deposit shall be refunded in full within 14 business days post event if there is no damage to the facilities and if no extraordinary cleaning is required because of the event. Should there be any damage to the facilities or extraordinary cleanup required, the costs to repair and/or to clean the facility will be subtracted from the damage deposit. User shall pay Gateway Arch Park Foundation for any amount in which such damages exceed the damage deposit.

Are there any décor restrictions?

Items not allowed in the Gateway Arch Museum:

  • Balloons 
  • Confetti/ glitter
  • No flames (no candles)
  • No food or beverages are allowed in the exhibit space.
  • Sternos (gel chafing dish fuel) are allowed for warming food but no cooking is allowed on the Gateway Arch property. No ovens are allowed on the property.

Is there a coat check?

There is not a permanent coat check at the Gateway Arch, but your caterer may set up a coat check in the visitor center.

Can I use the large video wall in the Tram Lobby?

Groups that rent the Tram Lobby may use the video wall for the event. However, we do not have the capability to freeze your video playing. If you want an image on the wall, you will be required to coordinate video imaging with NPS.  Additionally, you will have to supply the image sized to 6400x2160, and it will need to be saved as a PNG or JPEG.  

What time are the tram rides?

Tram Rides to the Top of the Arch must start with the beginning of the event at 7:00 p.m. The last tram ride to the top will depart 40 minutes before the end time of the trams. This allows the trams time to load passengers into the cars, take them to the top, and bring them back down by the end of the contracted time.

Example: if you have contracted the trams to run from 7:00-10:00 p.m., the last tram ride would depart at 9:20 p.m. from the tram lobby.

How does Photogenics (the Arch Photobooth) work?

Photogenics can be added to a rental for $200 plus $8 for each guest take home photo.  

Please note that Photogenics will need to stop taking photos 20-30 minutes before your contracted end time depending on the size of your group in order to print photos. Example: if you have contracted the photos to run from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m., the last photo would be taken at 9:20 p.m. in order to allow for printing.

Can alcohol be served?

Alcohol may be served, but cash bars are not allowed.

Is there valet or guest parking?

Guest of the Gateway Arch are free to park on any legal street parking spaces or public garages.  We do not provide valet, but you are welcome to hire an outside company for these services. See Explore St. Louis’s preferred parking list at: http://getaroundstl.com/attractions/parking/index.html

Are there any discounts available?

Yes, non-profit organizations receive a 10% discount. Corporate members of Gateway Arch Park Foundation receive a discount based on the level of giving.
