A rainy forecast the week ahead of the event gave us a moment of worry. But as guests began arriving at the North Gateway, the clouds parted, the sun broke through, and the Arch grounds came alive in the best possible way. The park itself was ready to celebrate.

That’s the spirit of Picnic in Your Park, and Gateway Arch Park Foundation's marquee fundraiser delivered like never before.

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, 510 picnic-goers spread out across Gateway Arch National Park with catered picnic baskets in hand, taking in iconic views of our hometown’s monument, swaying to the sounds of the Red and Black Brass Band, laughing with caricature artists, marveling at stilt walkers, and exploring the native plants of the Explorers’ Garden. The North Gateway was buzzing with energy, full of first-time attendees and longtime Picnic supporters alike. Together, this incredible community enjoyed 200 picnic baskets and helped raise a record-breaking $121,300+ in support of our mission, the most in the event’s six-year history.

That number matters. Every dollar raised through Picnic in Your Park fuels our mission to bring conservation, preservation, education, and community programming to Gateway Arch National Park. This work is essential in keeping our hometown national park and its surrounding areas thriving for generations to come.

"When you come to Picnic in Your Park and support Gateway Arch Park Foundation, you are investing in St. Louis as a whole," said Friends Advisory Board (FAB) Executive Committee member Ally Bruening. "It's bigger than Downtown and bigger than the Arch. It's about the future of our region and the impact we can make together."

That sense of shared ownership was felt throughout the day. First-time attendees expressed delight and an eagerness to return. Returning guests celebrated it as an annual tradition.

"Picnic is a chance to be reminded just how amazing the Arch grounds are," said FAB member Michael Woods. "This park is right here in our city, and it belongs to all of us."
