Members & Volunteers from Across the Country
The Gateway Arch has always been more than a St. Louis landmark.
Standing tall at the edge of the Mississippi River, the Arch is our nation’s monument to westward expansion. It is a symbol of our country’s endless potential and a physical representation of our shared dedication toward the future of the American story. As we approach the 250th anniversary of American independence, we at Gateway Arch Park Foundation are feeling that spirit, especially because the people who power our mission to support and sustain Gateway Arch National Park come from all across the country.
Together, Gateway Arch Park Foundation’s more than 1,000 members and hundreds of volunteers represent hundreds of ZIP codes stretching from coast to coast. This is a nationwide community of supporters united by a shared belief in the power of this place and what it means to our entire country.
In 2025 alone, 337 volunteers represented 86 ZIP codes spanning every corner of the country. These individuals gave 5,842 hours across 1,781 shifts through our co-managed volunteer program with the National Park Service. Our volunteers staffed community events, led conservation efforts, welcomed visitors alongside park rangers, and so much more. Many of these volunteers come back to give their time year after year, deepening their impact and personal connection to the Park.
Gateway Arch Park Foundation members are equally remarkable. Having crossed the 1,000 member threshold this past December, our membership program is central to our mission. From the free community and educational programs that bring tens of thousands of people to the Arch grounds each year, to the preservation and conservation projects that ensure the Park's historic, cultural, and natural assets are enduring, it is our members' generosity that makes it all possible. As any Gateway Arch Park Foundation member can tell you, their membership is an ongoing commitment to this public space and to the more than two million people who visit each year.
What moves us most is that our supporters don’t only live within walking, or even driving distance of the Arch. They live in every corner of the country, and still they choose to invest their time and generosity here. Their support has kept and continues to keep this place alive, sustaining 91 acres of urban parkland, preserving the historic assets that connect us to our past, and creating moments of community under the Arch. Because of our members and volunteers, this iconic place will remain thriving for generations to come.
Explore the interactive map below to see just how far our community of supporters stretches. Each dot represents a zip code, a neighborhood, a person who believes in this place. To every member and volunteer, wherever you are on this map: thank you! Our work at Gateway Arch Park Foundation is possible because of you.
