Final phase of demolition underway at former Millennium Hotel site
Gateway Arch Park Foundation is thrilled to share a major milestone: demolition at the former Millennium Hotel site has entered its final and most visible phase.
Work is now focused on demolishing the 28-story north tower at 200 S. 4th Street, the last remaining structure of the previous hotel. A large crane is visible from much of Downtown St. Louis, including from inside Busch Stadium, and St. Louisians will be able to see demolition proceed floor by floor, with the full site expected to be cleared by the end of 2027.
As the north tower comes down, we are also committed to honoring what stood here before. Originally opened in 1969 as Stouffer’s Riverfront Inn, the hotel has welcomed generations of visitors over more than four decades. To preserve those memories, we are asking you, our St. Louis community, to submit your stories, photos, and memories to our Millennium Hotel story collection project.

This redevelopment continues the legacy of civic vision and bold partnerships that defined the CityArchRiver Project. Thanks to the unwaivering support of our members and donors, that same spirit of stewardship is driving the future of the Millennium site.
